Under one gallon betta fish tanks need to go

Under one gallon aquariums that are advertised as suitable for betta fish should be discontinued. They create unhealthy conditions for betta fish to endure, while consumers are misled into thinking they are appropriate environments.

The new US pet industry standard is to not offer aquariums under one gallon. View statements from major US pet retailers regarding these tanks tanks on the link below:

Major US pet retailers are no longer offering these tanks, but they are still sold by many small pet stores and non-pet retailers

Manufacturers

We are asking Aqueon (owned by Central Garden & Pet), Marina (owned by Hagen Group), and Penn-Plax Pet Products to discontinue their production of harmful under one gallon betta fish aquariums

There are a number of small-scale pet stores that still offer under one gallon tanks, as well as non-pet retailers.
